Mountain Bike Clothing

For those who are new to the sport of mountain biking, as well as for those who have years of experience, mountain bike helmets should be a top priority when buying bicycle clothing and accessories. Protective headgear is a critical part of any type of biking activity, but especially so for mountain biking because of the potential for spills and falls. Traveling by bike far from help, over rough ground, can be a recipe for trouble, especially if the individual is not prepared with proper bicycle clothing and a quality bike helmet.
Fortunately there are a number of good, durable helmets available from numerous sources, including walk-in retail stores and Web sites. Before the mountain biker, amateur or professional competitor, heads out for a day of thrills and challenges, he or she should make sure all preparations are in place. This includes solid protective headgear most of all.
Where Can I Find One?
While good biking helmets and accessories may be found at sporting goods stores, department stores and on the Web, some of the sources may prove to be better than others for quality, selection and price. For example, Dick’s Sporting Goods has come to be the place to shop for sporting goods, biking supplies and more. This is a huge chain in the classic style, with hundreds of items on display. Dick’s Sporting Goods also has a well-designed Web site store for the convenience of shopping from home. With Dick’s Sporting Goods, variety is not a problem.
Some mountain bikers also find the source called Overstock to be ideal for range of options. The prices at this supplier are quite affordable, though appearance may sometimes take a backseat to price and construction quality. For the biker who is most interested in a good financial deal on a helmet and bicycle clothing, Overstock might be the answer.
Choosing the Right Helmet
Assuming the individual has found a good source for bike helmets, clothing and accessories, what factors should be at the top of the priority list? If the biker plans to ride primarily over very rough ground, a slightly bigger helmet may be called for (one that is thicker and will stand up to contact with rocks, hard ground etc.) For the individual who will be rolling along on comparatively smooth terrain, a lighter helmet should suffice, though quality should never be sacrificed with protective headgear.
With all of this in mind, just be sure not to sacrifice safety to save a few dollars.
